love letter garland

I made mine with love notes for my kids but you could really do this for anyone! Your partner, parent, sibling, friend, roommate. Nothing beats the look on someone’s face when you tell them something you love about them. Then multiply that by 14!! The best.

what you’ll need:

  • 14 mini envelopes (any color)

  • 14 mini cards* (cut up pieces of paper work just fine)

  • heart stickers of choice

  • writing utensil

  • twine, yarn, anything you have that can work as garland string

  • paper hearts (you can buy precut or cut out your own)

  • glue

*if you are doing it for multiple people just put a card for each person inside with their names at the top, so you’ll need (14 x (# of ppl) cards*

step one:

Write each “I love you” reason on each little card + place your cards inside envelopes but don’t close them up yet - this is important!!

step two:

Now you’ll assemble the garland by stringing your twine under the envelope flap and sealing the envelope with a sticker so when sealed, your envelope will hang on the string. String all envelopes this way, leaving space for hearts in-between, about 2 inches or so depending on the size of your hearts.

step three:

Lay your garland down on a flat surface, take a paper heart and put glue on one side of it then place that heart under the garland (between envelopes) glue side up so the string gets glued across the widest part of the heart. Then grab another heart and add glue to one side of that heart + press it glue side down, on top of the bottom heart so the twine runs in-between them.

You’re done! You can make little loops at the ends of your garland if you plan to hang it on something or you can just tape it up since it’s not heavy at all! You could open one envelope a day leading to Valentine’s Day kind of like an advent calendar but that will make your garland lopsided as each day is removed.

So instead, just use it as a garland since it’s adorable + festive and then have them open all 14 envelopes on Valentine’s Day as a gift. :)
